Leopard killed after injuring two persons in Budgam, case registered | KNO

Budgam, May 25 (KNO): Soon after injuring two persons, a leopard was killed on Monday in Goripora village of Beerwah area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district, officials said. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a leopard appeared in an orchard and attacked two persons who were spraying pesticides on apple trees there. The injured persons were identified as Mohammad Ayoob Parray and Mohammad Shafi Bhat. Officials said that both the injured were shifted to Beerwah hospital for treatment. Soon after injuring two persons, the leopard was killed by locals in the village. Wildlife Officer, Hokarsar Zone, Suhail Ahmad Qazi told KNO that officials from the department visited the spot and recovered the body of leopard. "Wildlife Department has registered a case against the people involved into the killing of leopard,” he added. Station House Officer (SHO) Beerwah, Athar Samad confirmed the incident to KNO and said that FIR has been lodged under Wildlife Protection Act while an investigation has been taken up –(KNO)
